A Boy's Story Chapter 16

Chapter 16
Two months have passed since Jason's graduation.  I am now 6 months pregnant, my back has been hurting lately cause of the extra weight of my daughters. They have been moving a lot lately and Jason is the only one who can soothe them. I was lying on the bed I shared with Jason while I rubbed my stomach in an attempt to soothe Lily and Aura. I noticed they were moving a lot more now that I was getting closer to my due date, which was only 3 months away. I smiled when Jason walked into the room. 10 minutes earlier, he had taken Jen out to the bus stop. He sat next to me and kissed my cheek while his hand found my stomach.  He laughed at the feeling of the twins moving. "They are moving already? Did you have caffeine or a tone of sugar?" I laughed and shook my head. "You must have done something."

I sat up leaning on the headboard. "I can promise you I didn't eat or drink anything to make them act like this. I would never do anything that could effect them like that." I rubbed my stomach absentmindedly. "Do you think they know their mom is a guy?"

Jason looked at me with surprise. "Damien, love, we have talked about this. I really doubt they will care. They are just grateful you are giving them a chance to live. Any other person in your position would have ended the pregnancy when they learned about it." He repositioned how he was sitting so that he was next to me leaning on the headboard. His hand found my stomach again. "These two girls really love you Damien. You have done a lot for them and they know it. They love you the same way me and Jen love you. I know you are worried, but everything will be fine. Our daughters will love you; I am very sure about that. Now calm down before we have an emergency meeting with Dr. Lynx." He rubbed my arm lovingly. "Why don't you go take a long hot bath? It will help you relax." He stood and held his hand out to me. I let him help me up and I let him help me into the tub after it filled.

Jason POV
Why is Damien so worried our daughters will hate him cause he isn't a woman? I have told him many times how much the girls love him and he just shrugs; he doesn't get it. Maybe after he is done with his bath I will take him baby shopping again. Maybe that will help him relax.

45 minutes later, we drove to the mall in the Mustang. I was originally gonna drive the Honda, but Damien said he missed our Mustang rides. I wanted to say no, but I couldn't resist the look on his face. I helped him out of the car and we walked into the mall hand-in-hand. He smiled when I led him into baby-depot. We bought more dresses, a few stuffed animals, and a mobile for each crib. It was only 11:00 so we headed to the food court for an early lunch. Damien led the way while I walked behind him with the bags. I almost ran into him when he stopped short. I looked around him trying to see why he stopped.

Damien POV
I hoped to god I was wrong. "Damien? What is it?" I was too scared to answer him. I looked at the man ahead of me with horror. I was looking at the man who raped me. "Damien, are you ok?" the man looked back at me with wonder and satisfaction. "Damien, talk to me." I started to back up and ran into Jason.

"So you do remember me. At first I thought there was no way it could be you, but you recognized me. I guess you really can't forget me now huh? And guessing by the hand over your stomach I left something else for you to remember me by. To tell you the truth I didn't expect that to happen, but I don't really care." He walked towards me, I knew at that moment Jason understood.

I could feel his body stiffen behind me and I heard our bags fall to the floor before he put his body in front of mine. "Leave him alone, you have nothing to do with the children in him. I am their father, Damien and I made sure you did nothing to him. Now I will kindly ask you to leave us alone. We are trying to shop in peace." Jason turned to lead me away when the man grabbed my arm. "Please let my husband go."

"How dumb do you think I am child? I had that night with your 'husband' 6 months ago and he looks about 6 months pregnant correct?" I tried to get away from him but he tightened his grip. "From the way you are both acting they are my children." I grimaced as he put his hand over my stomach. My daughters immediately stilled as if they knew they were in danger. "Are my children active or secluded like me? Do we know the gender yet?" I ducked when I saw Jason's fist coming at the guy's face.

I ran to Jason as soon as the man fell. He hugged me before shoving me behind him. I leaned against his back as I tried to calm down. I took my phone out of my pocket, dialed 911, and hit send before sliding it back into my pocket. I kept my attention on the real father of my daughters; he rubbed his cheek as he stood. "I told you to leave him alone." The man looked like he was gonna hurt Jason. "How hard is that to understand?"

"I have a right to know about my children, I created them. If not for me he would not be the way he is now, would he Jason." He smiled evilly.

"How do you know my name? Who are you?" Jason asked with anger in his voice. I noticed he was clenching his fists.

"How could you forget me Jason? We have such and interesting past. Toby really liked me." The man smiled as recognition crept across Jason's face. "It has been years since I saw you last. I heard your family broke up; so sad about your sister too, she was a sweet kid."

"I thought you were in jail for what you did Maddox. How did you get out? They said you had life without parole." I realized the father to my daughters is the man that raped and killed Jason's little sister Toby.

"They didn't let me out I escaped, quite easy when you befriend the right people. I befriended a guard." He smiled again. "One night I killed the guard and escaped. Who would have guessed I would run into your 'husband' that night?" I watched as mall security and police officers crept up behind Maddox. They grabbed him and forced him to the ground.

Jason turned to me and pulled me close. "Are you alright? Did he hurt you or the babies?" I shook my head no as I cried on his shoulder. "I'm glad you're ok." He led me to a chair and made me sit. "Who called the cops?" I pulled out my phone and closed it ending the call. "You are so smart; very, very smart." He had an officer watch me as he got our bags and a drink for me.

We left 2 hours later after the cops were done questioning us. I was quiet as Jason drove us home. When we got home, he put the bags in the hall closet and led me to our room. He had me sit in bed as he made lunch, which he later brought to me when it was done.

Jen ran into the room with a smile on her face, Jason was chasing her. She sat next to me on the couch and giggled as I hugged her. "How was your first day back at school Jen?" she smiled when Jason sat with us.

"It was ok, but I would have rather been home with you and Jason." I looked at Jason and saw him looking aback at me. I could see the worry in his eyes. "School was boring Damien, I have more fun with you and Jason." She reached into her book-bag and pulled out a piece of paper. She handed it to me; I saw it was a drawing. "I made that today, Mrs. Johnson said to draw something we love." it was a crude drawing of the three of us. I handed it to Jason and he smiled.

"It's beautiful Jen, but why did you make me so short? I am not short." Jason said with a smile. He set the drawing on the table and started to tickle her. Jen begged and pleaded for help, I acted like I was gonna tickle her but tickled Jason instead. Jen got my cue and tickled him as well. "Hey, no fair Damien! You know I can't retaliate against you! You're supposed to be on my side you cheater!" I stopped tickling Jason when I got a weird feeling in my abdomen; it felt someone was squeezing it in a vice. I have been having muscle spasms over the past month and they always went away when I walked around.

I got up with effort and walked into the kitchen. The 'muscle spasms' didn't stop. I leaned against the counter as I called Jason into the room. He must have understood; I heard him tell Jen to go play in her room. He walked to me with concern in his eyes. "Call your mom to come watch Jen. I think there is something wrong with the babies. My abdomen keeps cramping and it won't stop!" He held me close and rocked with me as he called his mom.

Five minutes later, we were driving to the hospital where Dr. Lynx was waiting for us. "They can't be born now Jason, it's too early. This can't be happening." We pulled into the parking lot and walked into the hospital; I leaned against him the whole way. We got to the reception desk as I felt another cramp. "My name is Damien; I called a few minutes ago. Dr. Lynx is supposed to meet me here. I have no idea what is going on, I am worried about my daughters." The nurse nodded and handed me a clipboard to fill out. "Please I don't have time for this; my daughters can be in real danger." I said while I rubbed my stomach. She still insisted I fill out the paperwork.

"Listen lady, Dr. Lynx said we would be admitted when we got here. We don't have time for this ridiculous paperwork. He is seven months pregnant with twins and having abdominal cramps. Now do your job and get him a room!" Jason was almost yelling at her. He was about to when Dr. Lynx came out. "Thank god, please tell her he can go in. he's been having cramps for the past 15 minutes and all this nurse cares about is paperwork." He rubbed my back as another cramp started.

Dr. Lynx told the nurse we would handle the paperwork later and led us back to a room. They put me in a flimsy hospital gown and attached monitors to my stomach. After being there for an hour, the cramps stopped. Jason and I let out a sigh of relief. "Damien what you were feeling was false labor contractions. They are called Braxton-Hicks contractions; your body was practicing for the real event. Lily and Aura are perfectly fine. You did the right thing coming here." I told her about the meeting with my daughters' father. "I am glad he is back in police custody where he belongs. Jason I am also sorry about what happened to you so long ago." She hugged us both and left me to dress as she handled the paperwork form earlier.

Jen ran to us with tears streaming down her face when we opened the door. Jason picked her up and started to rub her back in an attempt to soothe her. "Calm down Jen, everything is fine. Me and the babies are perfectly fine; it was just false labor pains." I told Jen as I rubbed her back. I smiled at Nancy when she walked into the room. Jason continued to soothe Jen as I walked, well waddled, to Nancy. "Thanks for watching Jen Nancy; I was really worried for a minute. Was Jen ok while we were gone?"

"She was fine, just worried about her big brother and nieces. How was false labor?" she laughed as I scowled at her. "Relax I was kidding. You forget I have suffered through it before." She hugged me and patted my back. "Did Dr. Lynx tell you the difference between real and false labor?" I nodded "Good."

I smiled at Jen when she hugged my waist. "Hey kiddo, stop crying. I am fine and so is Lily and Aura." I smiled as she kissed my stomach. "Alright relax, I am gonna take a nap; I am tired all the sudden." Jason nodded along with his mom. "Jen go play with Jason, I will be ok." I told her as she frowned. She nodded before walking to Nancy and Jason. I smiled and headed to my room. As I laid on the bed, Lily and Aura went into a kicking frenzy. After lying there for 5 minutes, I felt the bed depress next to me. I opened my eyes to find Jen lying next to me. I smiled and out my arm around her.
